The accent can come and go, for me, but it’s phrases that betray my roots. Or tenses…things that don’t exist (frequently) in common parlance in the US.

I was talking to a friend about the difference between “I’m after doing that” and “I’ve done that.” The former is a present perfect tense that doesn’t exist in English. It’s a direct translation from Irish. The latter is the English way of saying the same thing.
